Over the last 6 month's or so, i've embarked on a mission to get the old girl a little more NOS and OEM since I finished it for last years 2T Muster at Lochmaree. Since then I have managed to get really good OEM plastics to replace the DC that was on it, OEM handlebars and NOS grips, OEM blinkers, OEM sprockets and an O ring chain, i've put the drum front brake back in it with NOS shoes, put the original muffler back on it. I straightened the rear loop (thanks for telling me boys Embarrassed) I've spent heaps of time with little things like OEM cable tie straps and even been replacing the nuts and bolts with replated OEM ones, and the new decals which i've just finished applying. I guess i'm working towards a nut and bolt resto, but it will never be genuinely OEM with the YZ top end, 18" rear wheel and black rims, but i'm really happy with the way it has turned out. All that is left to do is change the gearbox oil, start it as it hasn't run since January, give it a wash and load it on the trailer and head off to CD7 with Jock and Brooksie.
A big thanks to Brooksie, Bikejunky and Les for their help with parts and labour, Jock for this site and it's knowledge base, and sorry to anyone I guzumped on Ebay Cheesy Cheesy.
The pics,

Looks awesome mate! A pleasure to work on such a fine machine, anytime you need something done. Does seem a shame that this time next week she will be covered in dirt, mud crap. At least you've got some nice pics when the old girl is clean. Only a couple more sleeps before it's cousin will be loaded onto the trailer and heading for CD7.
Once again top job, new decals really set it off. Shocked Cool

Top Job Adam,

I think you have got it to the point where it is to good to ride...

Decals look good, are you going to put the MONO-X on the swingarm or leave it as is?

I like the look of your black rims that much Ive just pinched the black rims off my YZ465 to use on my 490....

Cheers

Jason might be right.......................too much mud, she might have to stay under the quickshade Grin Grin.
Cheers for the comments, but the camera makes it look a bit better. I have certainly learnt a lot re-doing it.
Next on the list after we come back from the US will be a better seat cover, more like original vinyl, and a NOS toolbag and toolkit, plus a few more NOS nuts and bolts. Then I want to start on the RM465 which won't be a NOS bike, that one will be more of a rider than this baby. I reckon i'll ride this one to heaven (or hell) with all the dollars i've thrown at it, i'll keep it forever.

Cheers guys
