  My IT490L :

Bargain bike, freshly shipped from California !!
Pretty much complete, but needs a standard piston and rings to run.

Spring should be good this Year !!!

Ok so maybe disregard my other post. This is the one you need the piston for? Looks like a good project. Would I be impolite to ask the cost of shipping?

The original post lacks detail !!

I buy most of my IT's from a company here in the UK that specialises in importing vehicles from the US. They bring about 12 containers a Year or more to the UK from California, loaded with cars and bikes.

Many bikes that they source are quite low quality, and they often need extensive restoration. However I quite like doing a resto or two !!
These days the company is a bit more expensive than what it used to be, and care is needed to make sure that a better bike isn't available elsewhere in the UK for the same money.
Occasionally you get a good one, such as the IT490 above. Now that was a bargain or it was a rare mistake on their pricing !!

I have bought about 10 bikes from them since 1999, and they look after me !!

They are also looking for a good IT125H, so any Californian members, keep your eyes open for me !!!

My 490K from the port in New Jersey to the UK cost $400 USD, I would never buy from any UK importer even if they do treat you well, there in it to make money, im in it to save money. We have lots of importers over here and its always lots cheaper to source and ship your own bikes or cars be it from America or Japan...... It was fantastic when the £ pound was worth double the US $ dollar but them days have sadly gone now  Cry

Wow  Shocked  Shocked  Some of the shippers bidding on the 490 and 200 were wanting over $1200.00 to ship the two 1150 miles over the prairie. I figured it would be $1000.00 at least for your trip Tongue Tongue  Good on ya. Glad to hear that IT made it home Wink Wink

Sure is £1200.....! wow you could get 2 full containers for that, the last Mustang i shipped from Brunswick Georgia to Southampton only cost £500 with Walenius Wilhelmsen ro ro service. Dont tell me he made the fatal mistake and organised the shipping from the UK instead of state side and got truly shafted ?
