Went out with my IT200 and a guy on a KX250. Had problems with the KX250 alll saturday long. It just did not want to start after we stopped for a smoke break. Still a bunch of snow on the ground, but when we got onto the open uke roads, it was pretty much just mud. And I don't mind being dirty so it wasnt a problem to me.

We tried to bushwhack in the snow, which meant that I had to hold my IT open at 4-5 grand to make a trail for the KX. The KX just wouldnt go anywhere so leave it to the IT to break through the snow. When we couldn't find the trail we called it quits. There is just too much snow on the ground.

That pretty much sums up my day on saturday, screwing around in the snow, waiting for the KX to fire up, and beating the crap out of the IT200 (Im keeping my word!).

Sunday was much better. I figured out why the KX250 was so hard to start. The guy had the throttle cable adjusted wrong and it was not letting the slide bottom out in the carb. It was flooding itself. At first he thought it was fouling plugs left and right but a little arguement later I convinced him that it was flooding itself. About 5 minutes after I fix the throttle problem it throws a chain and gets the sucker stuck inbetween the hub and the swingarm. Twisted the sh!t out of the chain and it was a pain to get out. Krapasaki... go figure.

Managed to twist the chain back a little bit. Still noticeably twisted but we had no choice but to ride on it. I did my best to adjust the chain to where it should be but this SOB only brings a slothead screwdriver and a spark plug socket with him. So the chain was whipping around for the rest of the ride.

After that it all turned out great. we were monoing through puddles and just dicking around on the uke roads. Still I was revving the crap out of the IT trying to keep the frontend up. The bike just keeps taking it and taking it and taking it. I swear to god that that motor will not rev any higher than what I had it at.

I got a few hillclimbs in too. Nothing big as its still too wet, but I had fun sitting at the bottom of a climb and shooting up it. Screwed up a few times but all on purpose. What fun is it to keep going up the same little climb time after time with nothing interesting happenning?

After that we wanted to race the bikes and all the way up to 6th gear Id be infront of the KX. Once I hit 6th, since the damn gear is too tall, he would fly right by me. Once the boost bottle kicked in I would be creeping up to the KX though. Pretty interesting that an old beater bike like this one can hold its own on a modern race bike. If it didnt have that tall 6th gear it would easily win a drag against the KX.

Well all in all it was a good weekend. I would have liked to climb more and see what this bike can do on the hills. Hell I didnt even get a chance to really hold the bike open, its just too muddy and all that.

This coming weekend it will be much better. I hope to get in 2 full days of riding in, and Im talking 10 hour days.

Hopefully the KX wont screw the hell up again. The IT didn't have a single problem this weekend other than a motor mount bolt coming loose.

I took a few pictures, which is why Im posting in this section. Ill upload them tonight.

pssh. The IT200 is the best bike I ever owned. Period. Ive had 3 of them and I actually think that Im going to ride this more than the 465 (once Im done with it). So much fun, with so little work to keep it running strong.

This one is a special little 200... the other ones did not have as much snap as this one has. I think someone might have ported it or something. It does things that my 84 wouldnt do. And that motor was in tip top shape.

Here are the pictures I took. Extra large as always.

Actually mteague, I like the all black look on your bike. As for the 200's, I took my kids '82 KDX200 out last Sunday and was pretty impressed with it .... and it starts so much easier than my 490

Yeah, I actually don't mind the black paint anymore. Eventually Im going to turn it back to blue, but not for a month or so. It runs excellent and Ill bet my money that it will keep up with most bikes on the trails. So Im not complaining.

Here is a little list of parts I want to get for it one day:
NOS front and rear guards
DC sidecovers (Im going to strip the paint off of the airbox cover though)
Some sort of aftermarket reeds
DG header and end pipe
Repro sticker kit

After that it should look quite well.... the only thing I have to deal with is a broken drill bit in one of the fuel tank mount holes. Friggen bolt head was snapped off and did NOT want to come out. Then a few cuss words later and I had broken an extractor AND a drill bit.
