WANTED 1981 IT125 www.yamaha-it.co.uk

I was sorting through some DT spares that my Dad gave me the other day, and found a new DT175 piston.

The piston on the left is the IT175. Note the piston ring peg positions.

    IT175 piston part No: 1W2-11636-00
    DT175 piston part no: 2N5-11635-00 ( 3J1-11635-00 )

My IT175D came with a DT piston, need to pull it apart again to check that the rings aren't going to get caught in the ports !

Rings are allright. Where the pegs are wont matter only if they are a differet thickness or shape. Whatever the piston is it should have a part number on the underside.

Im not too sure about the different peg positions and the rings snagging the ports. The ports are fairly similar.

Im yet to investigate it fully. Ive got a stack of pistons and its seems that mixing and matching the pistons in different barrels is common practise.

Cheers, Bob.

i am runing my dt175 with a it175 piston.its a 1979 model.I also have a 3mm spacer to put under the cylinder so I can use 1982/87 dt175 pistons.the rings dont seam to snag.the it175 pistons from a 1982 it175j,on the IT the ring ends go over the transfer  ports and that piston in a dt cylinder dose the same, but you wouldnt want to put a dt piston in a it,it would snag for shore.
