The famous painted tank finally dies RIP.
« on: April 02, 2019, 07:53:47 AM »
Well, the tank is dead, and not from the paint falling off.
Was on a trail ride in the weekend, some technical sections, rocky, rutted and steep.
Last loop of the day i biffed it and the poor bike landed on a rock, at the same time pinning me underneath it.
As i was waiting for help, i was being drenched in fuel.Front of the tank had ruptured.
This tank has been well documented on this forum over the years, and im imptessed that where it has split the paint hasnt flaked of in large pieces.

I have a spare tank fortunatley.

Cheers,
Steve.

Well Steve that sounds like it would of been entertaining for the others with you.

RIP tank, another one bites the dust. I went through two last year on my 175, I might have to go aftermarket.

Wow thats some impact.
I bet that would have destroyed a radiator on a modern.
Having a spare tank is a bonus.
Hope it didnt detract from a long awaited ride.

Saw in IT465 on eBay here recently
"Tank is split but easy fix (seal with pet seal/epoxy and then make a cover for it)"
LMFAO

There you go Steve, easy fix, all you have to do is...

 ;D ;D ;D
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

GRIP AND RIP CRAIG AND CHRISSO!!!

Hahaha,
Yes im sure chewing gum would work too lol.
I'm going to use my spare tank for now, but still have half a sheet of alloy left so will make another alloy tank as a "spare".
Dead right Bruce, would have wrecked a radiator, glad i wasn't riding my WR.

Cheers,
Steve.
