1983 YZ 490 ?restoration?
« on: December 10, 2018, 05:53:48 AM »
All said and done. Everything gone through. 100 hours +/- of time. Oem / aftermarket parts. Updated pegs, kick starter and odds n ends. new plastic & tires . Very good rider quality .  I?m generally running $3000-$3500 total. Is that the general ball park for you guys?

Hi Dave

This is a very dangerous subject especialy if the wife is looking over your shoulder  ;D
I haven't dared tally my IT up, my brother made this mistake with his PE400 he reckons that
he could have bought a brand new KTM tpi for what its cost him.
So I recon you have done well.

Rich.

You are doing very well!
My IT2000 bill came to  $8000 :o including original purchase price, not to mention countless hours, but you can't put a price on what you enjoy doing.

Cheers,
Steve.

Is that the big big big bore Steve?  2 litre capacity would go allright.

138mm Bore and stroke would give you 2,064cc.

I guess it wouldn't be long before some company offered a big bore kit or a stroker crank for it !

Cheers,

Dave.

Lol... I tallied up all my bikes... ha! No wife anymore... !! $45k... so.. 9 bikes = $ 5000 average per bike.. that is including my 2017 KTM 690 enduro... and we all know that we lose cash as soon as we walk em off the show room floor.. I suppose my boys will have a lot of nice stuff when I take my dirt nap..
