IT200S FRONT FORKS WANTED UK
« on: November 03, 2018, 09:02:48 PM »
Hi guys,
I have purchased a 1986 200S to restore and now realise that the front forks have been swapped out, perhaps for YZ ones. I would like to restore this bike as near factory as possible so now trying to locate a correct pair of forks.
I also need other spares, especially plastics of course (I know, highly unlikely) front light, wiring, there will be more! Anyone who is parting out a 200 will be my new best friend. UK based would be a plus but not essential!
Many thanks in advance. Joe 07969 135 798.

You'll need good fortune on your side to find a good set of IT200S forks here in the UK.

My guess is that you will need to set-up a eBay automatic search and be prepared for the usual US Shipping costs and Import duties.

It's possible that your forks could be shortened quite easily to mimic IT200S forks, which might keep you happy for a while. I've done a few in my time.

Cheers,

Dave.

ok, thanks Dave. It's not that the forks look too long or out of place but just not model correct! I will get some pictures up soon, maybe someone on here can identify what forks I have! Many thanks. Joe.

I bought a set of IT200S forks from ebay usa,
Had them shipped to NZ, can't remember the cost, but it must have been reasonable, or i wouldn't have done it.
They were in great condition too!

cheers,
Steve.

I've not seen any IT200 forks of any type on US eBay for some while.

You need to set up an eBay search that notifies you when they are listed.

Cheers,

Dave R.

What makes you think they aren't IT200 forks?

They are different shape on the bottom underneath the axle, they are also slightly longer I think as the bike seems a bit high in the front. There are no tabs on the LH leg to hold the disc guard (no signs of removal either) and the front wheel (complete with Z-spokes) and rear brake lever appear to be YZ so I think all parts were taken from the same donor, my guess is 85 YZ125.
The yokes are still the original 43mm IT200 ones though!

If any of you guys knows of a pair of 1986 IT200S forks anywhere in the world, or even a complete rough donor bike I would really love to hear from you, any leads would be appreciated!
The restoration is moving along great, new wheels have been built, engine built, bank balance is going down!
Thank you. Joe
