At the risk of starting an oil thread, what tyre pressure are you running? About 48PSI?

I have absolutely no idea  ;D ;D

Maybe 16f 14r?

I feel it was mainly loss of concentration, attempted showboating and lack of talent  ;D
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Hi Bill,

Sorry for the delay I?ve been working away for a couple of days. We hooked up the CDI onto Pete?s bike after the first race (so he had a comparison). The first time he started it it tried to backfire/kick back a couple of times which was odd, although it didn?t do it again. But he reported pretty much the same as Steve and I that it picked up nicely and the power band definitely came on with more of a hit.

Now the transponder results for the meeting have been published, I?ve asked Pete for an update as he didn?t do quite as well in race 2 but that might not have been CDI related  (I was a Steward and didn?t get as much time for chatting!) My YZ needs attention again but hope to have it up and running by the weekend for further testing!

Ps I tested Petes coils with my multimeter and it?s definately odd at the more sensitive settings. At 20k it seems to read true.

Just spoke to Pete, he didn?t do so well in race 2 as he fell off! 🙄😂 over all and on balance he says it was hard to tell much difference from the OEM one. My guess is that Steve?s CDI is prob all over the place which is why yours improved it (ditto mine) but Petes is prob working well.

Hope that helps, the only other option is a Dyno which we are still looking into!

Thanks again Bill

Thanks for the update, Dan.

Do you think the dyno testing will be in the near future?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Sorry for the delay in an update, I?ve had some mechanical issues which, hopefully, a large wad of folding stuff has fixed! - new cases -  I intend to give the dyno a call in the next few days to see what their wait times are. Cost is ?120 to measure and jet the bike, which I don?t think is too bad. Pete is a bit worried that they rev the nuts off the bike.

If I do go and they?ll do it I?ll see if we can get a run with both CDIs

Dan

Hi Dan,

Even if they want a little more to test both CDIs, I'll gladly share the dyno cost.  Hopefully they will provide some good comparison data.

Bill

Tried calling them today but they didn?t pick up? Will try again tomorrow. There is another near me but they are booked up until August.
