I might have a 3R4 CDI floating about in my shed, it's a very big unknown though as it came on a wreck I've never heard run.. and I have no way of testing it.

If it can help and save you coin buying another off ebay  I'll find it and post it

Hi Dan,

I got both OEM CDIs out of the potting.  The one on the left is after I restored it and replaced any questionable parts.  The one on the right still needs to be done.

Unfortunately, the timing discrepancy between the two still exist, so I will have to look for another CDI on ebay for comparison.

Regards,

Bill

Bill I will have a YZ250H CDI of an unkown condition that you can have. I won't be able to dig it out and post it to Friday if you would like it?

Cheers

That would be great, Cooky, thanks!  I hope it matches the one I think is good.  I'll PM my address.

Out of curiosity Bill, what do you use to remove the potting compound that doesn't remove the PCB printing?

Once the bulk of the potting is removed, as with the board on photo-right, I start by removing and identifying each component.  Then with the components removed, I use flux remover and various scrapers and a tooth brush to remove the rest of the potting.
