DT reeds
« on: May 15, 2018, 09:44:33 AM »
So took the reed block out of my DT175 (1999) the other day and among other things notice that it appears to still has the original stainless steel units. Also noticed that one of them isn't closing off properly. After reeding  (get it, lol) a couple of forum posts folks say fitting carbon reeds helps with throttle response etc. So me thinks I will give them a try.

Moving along, is it my crap internet searching skills or are they not a common item to be found on the internet for a DT175. Ebay has them on there for around $60 plus, but being a tight ar_e, I can’t see the value in that money for a couple of pieces of carbon fibre. Then I hit on the idea of buying some carbon sheeting and cutting out my own. Perhaps with the thought I could buy different thicknesses, but again, this sheeting appear elusive.

I did find some reeds located in Germany for around $24, a price that seems more reasonable, but they don't appear to fit a DT175, 1999 model.

Just wondering what experiences others have had with finding, purchasing and the outcome of fitting carbon reeds to a DT175. Any info greatly appreciated.
