88 dt175
« on: May 12, 2018, 09:38:45 PM »
Hi
A few years ago i picked up a 88 DT175 for the best price of free it has a black seat (known as the black one) its was missing lots of parts but ran really well so was used around my bush block and started a thing for me, since i have sold my other bike and the DT stayed from there they grew.
shortly after i got a 1993 dt173 for the best price once again FREE although this bike only just ran has become a parts donar.
Since then i got another almost complete bike and good runner although a bit slower than the black one, this one has a red seat (known as the red one)this one will be my trail bike i go to the VIC high country one with a few mate who have classic bikes aswell for a camping trip. it will get rego soon just need a exhaust side cover, mirrors, and front and rear indicators.

I have been stalking the forums for some time noting down mods and tweeks to make the J motor go. although pictures have now gone (thanks photobucket) it make it a little harder to see what was done any tips would be awesome and pictures would be better. ill put some up of my bikes soon.

the black one still goes a little better than the red bike i think its a fresh rebuild and has a triangle hole in the muffler i read about which is meant to make them go better.

Dave R Edit:

sorry cant figure out how to post pics wont let me.
thanks!

Welcome to the forum!!

you can add pics as an attachment if they aren't too big, or add them to the gallery but there has been reports the gallery is a bit glitchy at the moment.

sounds like you have the DT bug well too  8)

the DT engine is a giggle to play with, my one has a few backyard modifications but is bulletproof and surprisingly useable.. my first attempt was a cranky fragile grenade... which was a giggle too lol

I would love to offer you some money for all the body work of one of those red/black beauties.
I have one of the dorky new ones that would look better as a rad 80's beast.
