YZ80D 1977 1TO
« on: May 12, 2018, 07:50:57 PM »
I have a 77 YZ80D to fix up
I will be needing a cylinder ,head  and an exhaust at this stage
Bottom end is unknown but doesn't look good  no movement in the conrod ...seized up so would assume
the gearbox is probably not in good nick..
Question I have now is would anyone know if an exhaust of 80 C or maybe the 80 E with mono shock rear would fit
I have seen a couple of 80C NOS exhaust for sale and it looks almost identical apart from the muffler insert
Has anyone else had experience  with these ?

Very nice Brian, it's a lovely little bike.

I'll ask my NOS man if he has anything useful hidden away.

Cheers,

Dave R.

I've got an E bottom end with the clutch cover off.. gearbox should be right if you need one.. crank is dry and spins but weathered. but the barrel I was hoping to be D is a H... I might have a head for one but that will take some more digging.. I was sure I had a 1T0 barrel floating about.. again.. more digging.

that is a little beauty, you will have plenty of fun along the way I'm sure, i think I have a few 80c/80d bits lying around, i will see what i can find! pretty sure that a 80C pipe will fit an  80D, and the baffle is the same until the F i think (I would check tho)

I think you find that the bend around the shock is different between the two because of the D s larger gas shock unit compared to the C I think that it will inter change all the same though.

That sounds good
IT seems they used the same or similsr  gearbox on YZ 80A to F also the same /similar to GT80 MX80..
I do also need a head and carby set up!
I have spotted a 1TO barrel in the US but will wait to see what you can find

That makes sense
From what I can see from the photos in ebay adds the bend seems more prominent in the D .
Didn't want to go ahead and get one to find it it wont fit.
What I will probably do if I cant get a decent 1TO 77 D one is take it to geoff morris and get one custom made
