« on: May 06, 2018, 11:49:57 PM »
Hello!
-
I think lately my kickstarter has started kicking back - when I try to start it. Others who have tried this? and can help?

Is the timing adjustable, have you checked it?

As Dan said,
Check your timing, or your flywheel has sheared the key.

If the woodruff key has let go it will put the timing out.

It kicks back, but does it actually start and run?

Hi there mate, I had this happenning to mine when I installed a different CDI (I had a 3XP1 CDI and installed the 4BF CDI). I don't know what the differences may be but it seems like the ignition timing is different. At least base ignition timing. Either that or a sheared woodruff key or a problem with the pulser coil maybe?

Interesting, I have always thought that it's normal for WR200 that it sometimes could kick little bit back when starting. Mine has done it since I bought it.

I've had several Yamaha two strokes, as well as a 1990 DT200R. I've NEVER had the DT kick back. It is bone stock with low km's on it.

Hi Antti, yes it does happen occasionally, especially after an off and a couple of unsuccessful kicks. But under normal conditions it never kicks back. At least none of the close to 20 DT-WR/WRs I've been more than happy to ride. All this if you're familiar with the tiny kickstart and the quick kick it requires! I've seen it happen to the people who keep cursing the little kickstart!
