FMF Fatty for 98 model.
« on: March 31, 2018, 01:55:42 AM »
The FMF Fatty on my 98 has seen a bit of life and is getting near wanting a proper rebuild rather than just blowing out and straightening again.

Yamaha list the original as P/N 4XL-14610-10 - the same as 98 YZ. Bought a new Fatty - P/N 020149 - listed as 97-98 YZ and 98 WR, it's made of different length sections and won't go past the kickstart boss of the cases. Had 2 the same now, what am I missing? Or have FMF made a cock up?

Original version on the bike has the number 804 Y - 49 stamped in the usual place and as said, is obviously different.

Any suggestions? As it's a good pipe that works well.

Cheers

Jim
It's not so much a question of IF, more WHEN and how HARD.

Looks like mine has Y48 written on it Jim, has the original tag on it with the bar code also Y48, lists it as 98 YZ250

Hmm, different again. Thanks for checking.

When do you reckon you bought it? Mine must be early 2000s.

Looks like I'm going to be bothering Poole M/cs again .....

Where are you Jim? Happy to swap my brand new fatty for a gnarly if you can’t get one to fit. You are welcome to try it first if you are close.

I'm Southampton. Think I'll take you up on that kind offer when back from Romania trip. Happy to travel a reasonable distance.
