My 1992 WR200RD
« on: October 28, 2017, 11:41:32 AM »
Hey guys, I’ve been lurking this forum for a while but just joined because I finally found a bike I’ve been searching for for years.  1992 WR200.  It was advertised as a 2000 for $1200 but I ended up driving away with it for $600!  The bike runs flawlessly and is all there besides the taillight, exhaust end cap, and front brake lever.  I love how smooth the bike runs and will be using this in the woods instead of my KTM and Husqvarna.  Love this bike!

Welcome to the forum hydra , $600 what a great deal and it doesn’t look like it’s had a hard life

either, going by the wear on the seat and frame

Impressive if that's the original graphics still on too.  Where are you?  USA/Canada?

I live in Grand Rapids, MI, USA.  I was really surprised the caution stickers are still there!

Well I must say that's the best original WR2 I have seen to date. They're 26 years old...  They are a heap of fun to ride, you'll love it.  In 1991, a 26 year old bike was virtually suicidal to ride.
This is what I'm planning to have mine look like eventually.  More of a traditional red/white/black look.

Thanks Axel!  It is in great shape and unmolested for the most part.  The pic you posted looks awesome!  Is that your bike or what you’re planning on making yours look like?  This is actually the first WR200 I’ve seen in person.  Can’t believe I got it for such a steal!  Originally I was going to stick it on eBay to hopefully double my money but she’s growing on me now!  Thinking of turning it into my main woods machine!  Either that or make it a showpiece haha

As you can see, you can make them pretty cool with some good choices.  This one isn't mine but I'll take some styling ques from it.
Check out the carbon fiber subframe in this thread:  http://www.yamahait.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=5513.40
I've come across a number of WR200 articles recently in 90-92 magazines I have.  I'll scan and post them up soon.  The WR200 was a national champion in the 200cc class here in OZ and battled for outright victories too.  Great little engine (but my 89 KDX200 was faster...) and reliable.  If you can get the money you want for it, sell it.  Everyone has a bike they are passionate about.  I'm like you, I got mine cheap (free actually) but it's not my first choice of vintage bike.  I'm searching for a 1990 KX250, preferably with a KX500 engine lol.
