TY 175 1975 gearbox
« on: October 10, 2017, 08:21:06 PM »
Hello All,
I am rebuilding TY engine after years sitting in a damp place. Its been stripped a while ago and sadly I didn't took any pics or notes that would help to put gearbox back together. Everything is pretty straightforward but I cannot get my head around why one gear is touching the case. Should it be a washer or a spacer between the needle bearing and the shaft? I packed all the parts carefully and I'm certain its not went missing.
Any advice would be appreciated!

the clutch basket when installed pulls the gears across on one shaft.. and the sprocket pulls the other shaft the other way.

Thank you 4V5 :) It did help to nearly finish the engine. Another quick question. Is shifter lever should stay like this on an angle? It looks like that shifting mechanism is pushed too deep but I cannot understand how is that possible. Ant should spring loaded ball bearing be in the groove which is visible in the picture or is this is the right place for him?

Also I've read a few forums and people say that TY175b got 4 gears butsome articles says its 6 speed. Which one is correct?

the parts diagrams for the TY175B say six gears.

that shift lever part looks a bit odd at an angle.. the drum looks like it's in the right spot. take the basket back off and have a look to see what it's doing?
