1983 YZ 80 Tank painting project
« on: June 02, 2017, 04:12:55 AM »
Decided to paint my tank, I fixed scratches will liquid metal, then lightly sanded.
Then used a plastic primer, then while plastic primer was semi dry, I painted with an engine enamal clear coat.

Then when clear coat dried, I sanded, then primed with a white  "Bonding" Primer (I used this Primer because its a "Bonding" Primer and will stick to the clear coat better than the primer already mixed in with the paint  (to be continued...)

Have a search on here for what works and what doesn't.... Sorry to be the say but the odds don't look good for that lasting.

The goal is make it durable enough for a days riding until I drain the gas , I installed an in line 3 way valve so I am able to drain the gas after riding/cleaning and putting it back in my basement. I guess time will tell. I finished it with decals on but havent had the chance to test it yet.
