Hopetoun Desert Rally 2016
« on: July 24, 2016, 05:15:34 PM »
Hey all,

The old man & I ventured up to Hopetoun a month or so ago to give the big IT's a run in the sand. It was a great event - reminded me that riding in deep sand can be a challenge! Here's a few pics of the weekend:

My 490 went really well - had to be carefull on some of the long deep sand sections. Wide open throttle + deep sand + IT490 detonation = DRAMA!

The old man's 465 was a bit unhappy - turned out had a blown head gasket  :-[

All in all the blue weapons were great fun in the sand!!

The bikes look great !!  I ride my YZ465G and IT250H on the sand tracks of Woodhill Forest Bike park here in Auckland NZ and they go great..  the YZ is a bit of a handful on the single track in the forest but on the open tracks, whooped out deep sand at times, they are both great fun.

Pity about the IT465 head gasket, I bet it would have been a good ride if that didn't happen.

Cheers Steady
