mx 250 1973 information
« on: January 04, 2016, 05:25:29 AM »
hi
i have a question about the mx 250 1973
a buddy of mine has one but it has a small polyester gastank instead of the original gastank the polyester tank fits perfect
the guy who sold it to him told him it was a yzm 250 1971 but the frame numbers and engine are from a mx 250 1973
another thing is the cover for the oil pump appears never to put on the crankcase the holes of the oil pump cover are still closed
does someone has an idea

the 73' mx250  had the oil pump fitted from the factory called "autolube" ,does it still have the oil tank behind the left sidecover ?
my I.d. numbers are 364   000101  to   011040.there was no production yzm in 1971.  one of the best looking yams made.   g.

That side/clutch cover looks like a recent addition so maybe not the original. The brochure shows the cover fitted so clutch cover must have been drilled. As far i can remember none of the Yam dirt bikes of that time had glass tanks. That MX tank in the brochure looks the same as the DT tanks of that time.
