I've heard of a high speed and low speed coil, but no idea what they do. I sort of assumed they would have a common ground which leaves one extra wire. What does your mate say about the way they work?

My 250H is a looooooong way from turning a wheel under its own steam.

The CDI charging coils are split into 4 coils i.e. red/blue top coil grey/white bottom coil from what Bill says the circuit in the CDI is split into 4 sub systems that sense the voltage drop as the magnets pass over the coil & turns on or tapers off a sub circuit to move the timing/adj it's complicated for 1980s.

This has got me thinking about CDIs Al. Been doing a bit of reading and Chinese pit bike CDi units can be had for $15 or cheaper. 5 pin would suit most of my needs currently, so I might have a bit of a fiddle with this in the coming weeks.

If you are thinking about buying a aftermarket CDI get one that is programmable. I would bet you would gain 5HP with retarding the timing on the top end. Just make sure to jet up one size if you do this.

Mike got his first shakedown ride today on the project YZ/WR/iT The O-Ring chain & lower link bolt arrived, i had to make a new chain slider, I had to stretch widened the swingarm for the 18" WR rear wheel that put the slider out of line with the rear sprocket the new slider worked great.

The CDI worked great.

Mike's first impression tons of bottom end should be a good Enduro bike.

Glad to see you got it up and running Mike. ;D ;D ;D I am sure you will have a little tweaking here and there but I am glad to here it run and it sounds pretty good to my ear.

More testing found the it's lean up top 38mm flat slide with a 360 main & the clip in #2 slot but the plug was wet? We pulled the carb checked the float level main jet size (360) moved the clip down 1 pulled the reed cage make sure nothing going on there go to put the reed back in and it's hitting the cylinder on the outside edge of the cage & holding down the outside valves! This reed cage is the 94 YZ 250 with Boysen reeds the outside edge of the reeds are slammed shut I went back to the iT 250H reed (steel valves) they clear & open to the stop mike just took a ride what a beast it's working now...

I'll make a vid later we have a clutch problem need fixed.

Yep, very disconcerting when that adjuster nut undoes itself...happened on my 465 in among the trees. I'm thinking a reed spacer is needed for the YZ cage.

Bike sounds sweet, great vids.
