TY80 wheel sizes
« on: December 07, 2014, 08:24:36 PM »
Hi all. Could anyone tell me what size your front & rear wheel sizes are on your TY80's are? I would like to be able to broaden my search for rims & tires for my TY50 resto.

I'm not sure but didn't the TY50 have bigger wheels than the TY80.

The standard wheel sizes for the 1974 & 1975 TY80A & B are listed below. Pretty sure the GT80 wheel is the same.

Yeah, the GT, GTMX, MX and TY all had same wheel rims from '73-'82.

Cheers,
Chris.

Hope your resto goes well.
TY50 was the first bike I ever owned 1977 I think.
Was about a year old when I got it. Man did that thing take a hammering.
Got a big brother in around late 1979 ( TY 80 ) Then mid 1980 both sold for a TY 175.
Looking back I think I had more pleasure out of the 50 & 80.
Will keep an eye out for parts .

Thanks for the info, everyone. Much appreciated. My TY50 is a long term project, requiring a complete rebuild. I have only ever seen 1 other that I remember, so would prefer to keep her to original specs. My problem with the wheels is that they appear to be rather odd sizes. Neil, will pick your brains, mate, if thats okay. Looks like you enjoyed mangatawhiri scrambles! The white IT is very cool.
