« on: July 29, 2014, 03:21:48 AM »
A friend was cleaning out his garage & I ended up with all his 1994 WR200RD parts everything less the frame & engine my question is are all WR frames alike I'm thinking of making a roller for a future iT engine swap.

Wr200 and wr250 frames are different from each other. The wr250 frame is very similar to the yz250 of the same year. The wr200 frame was advertised as based on the yz125 frame but this is a bit of a stretch. There really is very little the same between the two.

If you have all the motor and its in serviceable shape id say its well worth the effort of fitting it into a newer YZ125 frame, if you can get your hands on one with a lunched motor for a cheap enough price.
A few people have done this kind of build and I have not heard a bad word about the quality of bike you end up with.

I would say YZ250F frame, but i havent seen one. Keep an eye out, I got one cheap and will be fitting a DT200 motor into it. Well i will be trying to. There may be some issue with getting the exhaust out under the oil tank thats build into the front down tube on the frame.

The 18" WR rear wheel is on the YZ swingarm & complete WR front end w/ speedo gear.

From what I'm finding the only difference is the bushing I.D. in the rear engine mount, I have most of the swap going well I have the new tank mounts made & welded on I'm using the WR foam & cover on the YZ seat pan. I don't want a water cooled engine too many thing to go wrong.

Moving along on the YZ/WR/iT project, I found a 4V5 engine on ebay for 45 Bux nice & clean inside bearings are tight rod bearing as well also found a iT 250 cylinder with a new sleeve @70.50 for 50 Bux.

Cant say I follow your logic.

The DT200/WR200 would have to be one of the motor reliable motors you can get. Reliable like a stick.

Better bet might have been tank and seat off an air cooled 4 stroke.

Keep the updates coming.
