What is the difference in fork length from an IT200 to an IT465?

The stance on this 465 is looking nimble, looks like it might actually turn as opposed to the standard 465 front end which is like steering a boat going down a rapid stream!

 :) :) :)

Fork length difference is about 50mm longer than the 200's....Leslie and I just held the old 250J forks (same as 465) against the 200 at the axles. They were about the same amount longer as what you'd extend through the top triples.

As Leslie said...."there goes ya' 50mm"

It's the 5mm extra in girth on the 200's that's got me all warm and fuzzy though..... ;D ;D ;D

Cheers,
Chris.

Good luck with that "blue" paint Chris.  If the space shuttle was painted blue that's what they would be using, bl__dy hard to get off.   The guy I got the bike from painted every thing with it (did not mask a thing) speedo , headlight, front forks etc.  Comes off, but a bit of work required.
Bike looks good with that front end.
Cheers Max

Chris, I am a little confused as to what lengths you are saying when you are talking above the triple clamps. Are you saying the IT200 forks / clamps are the same length as the 465's when the 465's are slide up?? If so how far is the 465 forks slide up to equal where the 200 forks/ clamps would be??

Here is a pic of how far my stock 465 forks are slide up when I bought the bike. And yes that is a white tank on the 465. I found it for $20. and it holds fuel just fine ;D Al

Current bikes, (82) IT465J, (85) IT200N, (05) GasGas 200, (11) DRZ400S, More photos can be found at.....

I run my 250J forks between 35 and 55mm up through the clamps depending on the track layout.

50mm = 2".....or thereabouts.

The 250/465 and 200 clamps are essentially the same as far as space between top and bottom triples are concerned. Fork placement has no bearing on this space. Frame's headstem or gap between bearing cups determines that space.

The 200 bottom clamp's stem is about 30mm taller than the 250/465's as it uses a nut to hold the top crown onto the headstem...the 250/465 uses a pinch bolt around the stem.

Cheers,
Chris.
