Wiring on a DT 250
« on: March 24, 2014, 05:05:09 AM »
Good reading here and nice to see so many IT's in Ausie, being a Yamaha old xt follower- thought we try the same with old yamie 2 strokes. Bought this abused dt needing TLC, the motor hardly turned over but after some Q20 and bitt of 2 stroke oil its turning nicely

Found the wiring stripped to nothing and (having little electrical knowledge) as a gauge on keeping it as a off road or trying to get it road legal i just to get the motor to fire, what is the most basic wires needed and items tested, any advice appreciated. Found this on the net but to many wires for just whats required

See what i mean wiring is a bit on the skimpy side, thanks for diagrams but as the colours dont match ???(see pic at flywheel)  brown and yellow coming out- 1 brown going to coil-(2ndpic) yelloe becomes brown and stops and a yellow and black taped wired from rectifier-. What is the most basic wires needed to start and from where to where do they run, - any help appreciated :D.
