« on: March 23, 2014, 10:37:16 PM »
Gidday All!!

A rather successful afternoon, a hunch was correct  8)

QT50 scooter rear hub drop directly onto a PW50... and early KTM50 have the right sized rim and the right length spokes  ;)

as far as I can tell... you read it here first  ;D ;)

Cheers!

Awesome mod Les! I have wondered why wouldn't Yamaha install spoked wheels on the baby cross bike! Aren't there any chinese/crap bikes with similar dimension spoked wheels? I'll keep your mod in mind if and when I decide to get a PW for the little one! I got her a YZ100J though (yes, I now it is a full size bike, but maybe I can have some fun on it till she gets of age ;D ;D ;D)

YZ100J

Nice  8)

The issue of the PW is the rear wheel setup having a diff with the axle driving the hub on a spline.. hence the QT50 hub, the PW and QT share many parts, it was surprising watching it drop straight on though.

these rims will now be re chromed now I know it will work, I may get new spokes made up though, the rim isn't centred but the difference is only a few mm in the spoke length to get it right.

Cheers!

Completely forgot about the diff! You're absolutely right! I think I'll be able to find a QT rear wheel or hub if I need it! Thanks and congrats again for the mod! www.yamahait.com.au is a really valuable forum!
