Well after three days of very careful treading and scanning every nook and cranny, it looks like that will be what happens....trouble is my sense of smell is somewhat diminished after years of substance abuse!

Beaut day here today....clear blue skies and bugger-all breeze....but still a chilly 7c at noon.

Chores done I looked at old blue and figured a "short ride" would be in order.

Short ride is a head clearing circuit I do quite often to relax....bit of traffic start and finish but a very quiet scenic ride.

Strewth, 7c soon numbs a few things.  :o :o

Old blue felt like a harley....heavy, saggy, didn't wanna turn and everything's loud. Crikey what a difference from riding my new DR....hadn't noticed all the foibles till today. Funny how we can be quite happy and contented with something for years, then jump onna newbie and whinge about not having this, what's that needed for, what have they done to this etc etc......

Was worth riding the old girl again though...still looks great, only rarely seen these days and the crack from that exhaust is bliss for no-one but me!

I love warm-up ride days....now to jump on some smokers and harass the local environment.....  ;D

Cheers,
Chris.

My new(ish) DR650's tacho/hour meter caught my eye just then...says I been in the saddle for 100 hours...looked at the speedo and this arvo's ride clocked up to a total of 6,000klms. I'm looking at a new rear tyre within the month, chain cams may go to the first click this time without being too tight. Have not touched the bike apart from adding screen and bags.

Cheers,
Chris.

Did my second service last week....oil change and fluid/bolt check....took 18 minutes, yer, I timed it.  ::)

Discovered at least another 150ml of oil resides in the left side of the motor when standing perpendicular though...needs to be tilted to the right slightly after the initial pour out and trickle stops.

Chain tensioner cams still resides at out of the crate position.....  :o  I'm likin' these 525 X-Ring jiggers!

Gonna get a new rear tyre soon...most likely probable at least....just seems to be hangin' in there pretty good, haven't managed a spin-up or slide yet....still measures legal...if you press a tad.  ;)

Cheers,
Chris.

Wow...just finished a 1210 klm ride...went to the High Country for a look....mixed results.  ::)

Will sort 50 odd pics and scrawl thoughts together for a post on here....after I GET A NEW REAR TYRE ORDERED!

 :P

There were "detours"...there were some issues...there was excellent riding and some fun....there is some pain.
