Any one have a YZ125 1985 Manual
« on: April 22, 2012, 07:52:56 PM »
Hi does anyone have a digital copy of a yz125 1985 manual or know what the stock rear shock setting for the rebound and compression adjusters are.
Iím in the process of servicing a YZ shock and installing it on my IT200.

You can use 1983 manual, 83 to 85 models are quite similar.

Hi Kiwi Andy, sorry about that. Its my website, and although some of the links have gone dead, the manual seems ok to me.  I am not logged into Weebly, but just tried the link and managed to download it again. Sounds like mboddy has given you the answer you need in reference to the shock.  K, L and N are very similar, but N did have the Bass, and also a disc front brake, bigger forks and other changes.

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex
yes thanks very much, seems to work now, just downloaded.

My question was about the Power Valave, not the suspension settings anyway  ;D ;D
Cheers
Andy

Oh yeh kiwiandy, i just reread the thread...sorry for the confusion. There was a few separate questions going on there.  Anyway, pretty sure the K,L and N had a similar power valve. I know you could swap cylinders around. The powervalves do work well. Take it out and clean it and check it over. There is an adjustment on the clutch cover under another smaller cover. If you cant get the exact adjustment you need, you may need a replacement linkage, or you can play around with the governor.  The governor has a spring and shims and is attached to the linkage, which in turn goes up and down and controls the powervalve.  On my K's i couldn't get the correct adjustment on the linkage, so i moved the shims around on the governor and this aligned my linkage into the correct position.

Cheers,

Ok thanks Alex. that is great to know, will dive in and see what I find.
I must admit reading the Dirtbike write up on the YZ125N they were complaining about the lack of power (as well as the fact that they were white for the first time in the US)
