Did you ever use that tyre inflator strapped to the rear loop Dave?

I still got mine from that era....always wondered if it would still inflate a tyre!

I have used them back in the day. I guess I got a 50% success rate. It's impossible to get a patch to stick to the tube after using the foam, so I defaulted to trailside patch repairs in the end.
Towards the end of my trailriding era, I tended to ride with quite high tyre pressures which resulted in a virtually zero flat tyre record.

On a more amusing note, I found an old 'Tyreweld' or similar repair foam in the attic some while back. It must have been at least 20 years old, but probably much more.
Not really knowing how to dispose of it and with a need to impress the kids, I took the can outside and pinged it with the Steyr air rifle... Like you do !
Anyhoo, the precisely pierced can raced around the garden, in ever increasing circles like a flapping wounded bird, depositing it's gooey slop all over the hedges, plants and lawn !

Won't do that again !
Luckily, the contents were water soluble and some time with a hosepipe returned the latex froth to the earth.

Good times.

Cheers,

Dave R.

Couldn't remember the brand so did some Goo Gling......

Finilec, that's the stuff. Tyreweld brand came later.

Found this cartoon whilst searching. Sums up the general feeling about the canned sludge:

Cheers,
